正名與逐利：戰後被控澳門華商與國民政府的司法糾葛

After the triumph of the Anti-Japanese War, a number of the Chinese merchants in Macao were accused of being “economic hanjian” (Chinese nationals working for the Japanese authorities in economic field) who were suspected of maintaining trading relationships with Japanese authorities, and they faced the fate of being extradited to China. After the war, the National Government decided to prosecute hanjian, part of the Chinese merchants in Macao were like meat on the National Government’s chopping block. In the name of prosecuting hanjian, the National Government and the Portuguese-Macao authorities devoted themselves to extortion. The Chinese merchants who had been accused of “economic hanjian” in Macao desired to clear their names and that was what the governments wanted to see. Under the harboring of the Portuguese-Macao government, some of the “economic hanjian” hid in Macao or Hong Kong. Finally, the process of hanjian prosecution in Macao turned out to be a farce.
