唐廷樞及其家族與廣州的關係考述

Tang Tingshu was born in Xiangshan. His footprints not only covered Macao, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tangshan, Tianjin and other major cities, but also he and his family were in close contact with Guangzhou. As far as Tang Tingshu was concerned, his book The English Words Collected Complete was published in Guangzhou under the name of Weijing tang, the Weijing tang is Tang Tingshu, and he claimed to be a person of Yangcheng for many times in the book. Judging from the people who inscribed, wrote the preface and proofread the book, Tang Tingshu had a social hub in Guangzhou. Among the members of Tang’s family, his parent Tang Baochen and Liang once lived and maybe had a house in Guangzhou. His eldest brother Tang Tinggui was born in Guangzhou. In addition to publishing The English Words Collected Complete in Guangzhou, Tang Tingshu also handled westernization affairs in Guangzhou. His third brother Tang Tinggeng lived in Guangzhou for a long time because of his position. His youngest brother Tang Tingjian and some of their descendants also lived in Guangzhou. In addition, Tang’s family also joined the Tang Clan Ancestral Hall in Guangzhou. Tang Tinggeng as the main representative of Xiangshan Fang in Guangzhou, actively participated in the initial establishment and later operation of the Tang Clan Ancestral Hall actively, and provided financial support, so he had an important status in the ancestral hall. To understand the relationship between Tang Tingshu with his family and Guangzhou, we obtain probably a more comprehensive recognition of Tang Tingshu’s life track and his family history.
