The Belt and Road initiative is one of the most important national strategies. The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is very important National planning in the New Era. Contributing to Greater Bay Area is the essential of the Belt and Road initiative. As a keypoint of the Belt and Road, as well as a central city of Greater Bay Area, Macao has many advantages of “one country, two systems”, an economic and trade cooperation platform between China and Lusophone countries, position in facilitating multi-cultural exchanges, etc. These advantages bring a great deal of benefits to Macao. Since Macao’s return to the Motherland, Macao has developed rapidly. On the other hand, Macao is short of resources. To promote sustainable development, Macao has to take part in regional cooperations. From a viewpoint of the welfare of the people, this essay discusses Macao’s development direction, route and key-points while Macao participates in the Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area.
