《知新報》是晚清時期維新人士與澳門商人在澳門聯合創辦的一份重要報刊，在維新 變法過程中曾發揮重要的作用。澳門商人何廷光在《知新報》創辦前後都發揮了重要作用，不僅是該報的主要投資人和總理之一，還是最初澳門方面的主要宣導者。戊戌變法後，隨着保皇運動的式微，原本接受朝廷嘉賞的紳商楷模，最終變成亂黨反賊，導致家道中落。由此可見何廷光為維新事業作出了極大的犧牲，其命運可謂與維新變法休戚與共。
The newspaper Zhixinbao was an important newspaper jointly founded by the reformers and the merchants of Macao in the late Qing Dynasty, who played an important role in the reform process. He Tingguang, a Macao businessman, played an important role both before and after the establishment of Zhixinbao. He was not only one of the main investors of the newspaper and one of the premiers, but also the main advocate in Macao at the beginning. After the reform movement of 1898, as the decline of the royalist movement, the gentry cum businessman model that accepted the imperial court to appreciate originally, became a disorderly party to rebel finally and caused the decline of family fortune. Thus it can be seen that He Tingguang made great sacrifice for the cause of reform and his fate was closely related to the reform. |
