Affected by the epidemic, campaign propaganda methods have changed, offline mass propaganda has decreased, and online propaganda has increased. The political platforms of the participating groups focus on issues such as economic recession, underemployment, and people’s hardship caused by the epidemic. At the same time, the direct election turnout rate dropped sharply. In the face of the reality of a large number of voters living abroad and the low turnout rate, it is recommended to consider introducing a mandatory voting system and correspondence voting methods. In addition, the establishment of special candidates’ political loyalty standards and review procedures, the principle of “patriots governing Macao” has been fully reflected in the electoral laws.
