改革開放前夕港澳經濟貿易考察組的組建、派出及影響

In 2017, China elevated the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to national strategy. This article analyses the economic development characteristics and trade relations within the Greater Bay Area from the perspective of its internal trade economy. Key findings are as follows: the Greater Bay Area has demonstrated generally positive economic development in recent years, although issues of coordination persist; the industrial structures of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are distinct and largely complementary, but the gap between Macao and Guangdong/ Hong Kong appears to be widening; the overall scale of trade within the Greater Bay Area is on an upward trend, yet significant differences exist in the degree of reliance on foreign trade between different regions; the commodity trade of the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta possesses international competitive advantages, while Hong Kong and Macao are comparatively disadvantaged; and the overall level of capital and technology intensity in products is not high, and aside from traditional strengths such as transport, tourism and financial services, Hong Kong and Macao are internationally disadvantaged in other service categories, indicating a need for further adjustment to both product and service trade structures. Furthermore, this article proposes targeted policy recommendations.
