預防、保護與打擊並重的反家暴立法

Law 2/2016 in Macau, Prevention and Combating of Domestic Violence, came into effect on 5 October 2016, which is a comprehensive legislation on domestic violence. This act constructs a mechanism about prevention, protection and punishment, creating an anti-domestic violence mechanism with multi-disciplinary and inter-departmental collaboration between government entities and private sectors. In particular, the effects of strengthening the criminal justice policies in Macau will impose criminal sanctions on more perpetrators, forcing them to leave their families and accept the consequence of violence. This kind of compulsory deprivation aimed at individual rights will help prevent domestic violence happening in a fundamental way. At the same time, the design of a litigation mechanism provides the perpetrators with more opportunities to reflect on their behaviors and correct after education, counseling and coercion so that they can return to the family.
