近代澳門填海造地的若干問題

After the Opium War, Portugal gradually implemented colonial rule in Macao, and the “struggle for sea power” and land reclamation became important strategies and means for Portugal to colonize Macao. Portugal was one of the first countries to participate in the “Great Geographic Discovery” (Age of Discovery), and had a clear awareness of sea areas and sea rights, while the Qing government was relatively indifferent or even ignorant of this. Therefore, since the mid-19th century, the Macao-Portuguese government had planned several Macao port improvement projects, both openly and secretly, and had continuously encroached on Macao’s territory through land reclamation and land expansion. A clear understanding of the hidden intentions, means and processes behind the reclamation and land expansion of the Macao-Portuguese government will help us understand the process of colonial governance and urban development of modern Macao.
