粵港澳大灣區下的澳門平台經濟發展的探索

Although Macao economic development has limitations such as uniform economic industries and micro economies, there are some advantages like political stability, substantial government revenue and dragon-head industry (such as the gaming and tourism industry), combined with national supports that try introducing a lot of new policies and measures. Domestic policies provide strong support to the development of domestic city cluster (like economic development of GBA) and to smart city construction. External measures are “the Belt and Road Initiative” strategy and main support for the development of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Those policies and measures help Macao to leverage its own advantages and alleviate the shortage of economic diversification. In the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area, Macao is positioned as the only central city in the west of GBA, therefore, Macao should leverage on its unique advantages to develop platform economics that drives the development of the western GBA. Recently affected by covid-19, how to gradually recover Macao economy through developing platform economics is one of the key considerations. This paper discusses the development direction of Macao platform economics from the perspectives of regional economic theory (new economic geography theory and global value chain) and concepts related to industry development (digital economy and platform economics), combined with the existing relevant policies of Macao SAR government.
