澳門的勞動力供給與需求──兼論外來勞動力與本地勞動力之關係

The labor force is an important factor of production. And the match between the supply and demand of labor, in terms of both quantity and quality, guarantees a healthy development of the economy. The labor force in Macau, with insufficient number and low quality, cannot meet the needs of the optimization of the industrial structure and the sustainable development of the economy. Meanwhile, the industries of Macau are still mainly labor-intensive, with large demand on manual workers. Models based on different theories show that, among such factors as economic growth, capital, human capital and industrial structure, only capital has significant effect on demand of labor force. The positive effect of capital on the labor force shows that the increase in capital is primarily to expand the scale of production instead of leading to industrial and technological upgrading of enterprises. This study also shows that the non-local labor force in Macau mainly acts as a complement to the local labor force.
