This article compares the status quo of gambling participation of the casino employees in Macao and other parts of the world and analyzes the changing trends of the employees’ gambling behaviors. The results show: (1)The gambling participation rate of casino employees is showing a downward trend, whether the employee is in Macao or in other parts of the world. The excitement level of Macao casino employees in gambling is declining, and their perception of casino games is more rational. (2)The gambling participation rate of casino employees in Macao is lower than those of casino employees in other parts of the world and their consumption behaviors in gambling is basically the same as those of local residents. The findings of this study support the hypothesis of adaptive theory, further confirming that long-term exposure to gambling facilities will reduce the excitement level of a local population when they play casino games and increase their rationality in perception of casino games, thereby reducing their gambling participation.
