本研究應用符號融合理論和幻想主題分析法,探究中英文媒體中關於澳門城市形象的非博彩元素,為澳門擺脫“賭城”形象,設計“世界休閒之都”品牌身份提供新的研究思路。本研究選取了報紙中的報導、旅遊局的旅遊手冊以及個人博客中關於澳門城市的描述,將其區分為賺得媒體、自有媒體和分享媒體,挖掘出關於澳門的與博彩無關的符號元素,並對比它們在各媒體中的分佈。研究發現在自有媒體、賺得媒體和分享媒體中相關非博彩幻想主題共有11個。但這些主題均沒有形成有歷史記憶的幻想類型和有價值的語意視野。不同的媒體呈現出關於澳門城市的意識圖景有所差異,呈現的符號現實多為表像的感官體驗和景觀描繪,並未有深層價值觀層面的符號想像。
This study attempts to identify the symbolic artifacts shared by Chinese and English media in regard to the city image of Macau beyond its known image as a casino city. By applying Symbolic Convergence Theory (SCT) and Fantasy Theme Analysis (FTA), the study aims to provide a new operational method for textual analysis of the city branding of Macau. It examines fantasy themes embodied in media reports, blog articles and promotion materials collected from three types of media, namely earned media, owned media and shared media. The distribution of those non-gambling symbols in varied media is compared. Though the research has identified 11 fantasy themes that have non-gaming elements, none of the themes has formed cultural and historical representations of Macau or valuable semantic field. It is found that the symbolic pictures of Macau represented by different media types are different. Most of the symbolic realities show sensorial experience and vision description which are only presentational and lacking of symbolic imagination on the deep level of value. |
