唐廷桂乃唐廷樞之兄、怡和洋行買辦。在相關研究論著中出現了各種變異或錯誤的稱法，有的流傳很廣、影響深遠。通過梳理唐氏族譜和各種相關史料，證實唐廷桂是正名，唐植是原名，唐亞植是乳名，唐國華是曾用名，唐茂枝是諱稱，唐茂之是唐茂枝誤寫，唐傑、唐實、譚亞祺、童 ‧ 阿奇、唐阿植、唐阿七是英文名回譯錯誤，唐廷植是研究者創造的錯誤名。
Tong Tinggui ( 唐廷桂 ) was Tong Tingshu ( 唐廷樞 )’s brother, and a comprador of Jardine Matheson & Co. In the relevant research works, many variations or incorrect names appear, and even spread widely and have a far-reaching influence. In this article, Tong’s family tree, and related historical records, confirmed that Tong Tinggui ( 唐廷桂 ) is the formal name; Tong Zhi ( 唐植 ) is an original name; Tong Achick ( 唐亞植 ) is a childhood name; Tong Kowa ( 唐國華 ) is a former name; Tong Mow Chee ( 唐茂枝 ) is a respectful name; and Tong Mow zhi ( 唐茂之 ) is an incorrectly written version of Tong Mow Chee, while Tong Jie ( 唐傑 ), Tong Shi ( 唐實 ), Tan Aqi ( 譚亞祺 ), Tong Aqǐ ( 童 ‧ 阿奇 ), Tong Achi ( 唐阿植 ), Tong Aqi ( 唐阿七 ) are English translation errors, and Tang Tingzhi ( 唐廷植 ) is an incorrect name created by the researcher. |
