People-to-people bond is the social foundation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the bridge for people-to-people and cultural exchanges. BRI spans different countries and regions, different historical traditions, different cultures and religions, and different customs and lifestyles, which has brought exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. In pursuing BRI, it is necessary to ensure that when coming to different civilizations, exchange will replace estrangement, mutual learning will replace clashes, and coexistence will replace a sense of superiority. There is need to build a new bridge for people of relevant countries to enhance exchanges and mutual understanding, and foster new ties of dialogue, exchanges and mutual learning among different cultures and civilizations. This will boost mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual trust among different countries. A growing number of Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSCs) that agree with BRI hope to jointly seize the opportunity and promote connectivity and exchanges among countries. Macao is an important platform for exchanges between China and countries along the routes in BRI. Spanning thousands of miles and years, Macao and the PSCs have long maintained close historical and cultural ties, and the friendly exchanges have a long history. In the long process of development with PSCs in history, culture, ethnic groups and other aspects, it has formed an inseparable close link. This has provided an inherent convenience for Macao to become an important intermediate bond.
