Launched in 1988, the Journal of Macau Studies is a comprehensive academic journal jointly edited and published by the Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) of the University of Macau and the Macao Foundation. With the aim of “studying Macao and serving the community”, more than 90 issues have been published. The Journal of Macau Studies provides an academic platform for experts, scholars, researchers and professionals to publish their latest research in the political, economic and cultural development of Macao. By exchanging new ideas and insights in theoretical exploration and practice, the Journal of Macau Studies is playing an important role in promoting academic research and exchange in Macao.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, governments and civil organizations in have introduced various policies and measures, and Macao is no exception: community quarantine, casino closures, medical surveillance, health code, limited customs clearance, stimulus measures, vaccination programme and other measures have gradually developed. In view of the enormous and continuous impact of the pandemic on Macao’s economy and society, the Journal of Macau Studies launches a special section to publish articles on the issue. Articles may include relevant research studies, responses and analysis of the government or civil organisations, and the economic and social impact of the pandemic, etc. Articles shall be submitted via email and shall be accepted upon passing the review.
